City of Galax Announces Huge Event Coming In December
Expected to draw thousands to the area.
Galax, March 11, 2015: The City of Galax, Virginia, announced today after months of planning, they have reached an agreement to bring High Country Lights to Felts Park for 2015.
High Country Lights is a privately owned light show by William Bottomley that has resided just across the state line in North Carolina for the past ten years. “I’m excited to bring the light show to the Galax area and make it a destination for everyone during the Christmas season” Bottomley said. High Country Lights is a synchronized musical light show featuring near 100-thousand LED lights to your favorite Christmas music. The show is planned to run from six o’clock to eleven o’clock each evening, seven days a week. The music can be heard from a low-power radio station on 96.5 FM, 24/7, from October through January.
Keith Barker, City Manager of Galax, said he is very excited that High Country Lights is able to bring its light show to Galax. We are happy that we can assist in sharing this with our citizens and visitors. Felts Park already has in place the necessities needed for the light show including sufficient power and paved parking spots. This is not only an excellent site for the light show, we’ll have thousands of visitors coming to the area and seeing what Galax has to offer.
Felts Park is located next to Downtown Galax between Main Street and Railroad Avenue.
High Country Lights kicks-off their show on Thanksgiving night and runs through January 2, 2016.
